Joe Ferraro

St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School

Graduated 1992

Acclaimed global television and radio broadcaster of mixed martial arts

Upon graduating from St. Thomas Aquinas, Joe Ferraro attended the Trebas School of Audio Recording Technology in Toronto, where he graduated cum laude with a degree in recorded audio music production. Joe took his newfound skills, coupled with his love for the dramatic arts and public speaking (which he practiced at length at St. Thomas Aquinas), and channeled his energy into television and radio.

An avid mixed martial arts (MMA) practitioner, Ferraro took his talents to the airwaves, where he continues to receive worldwide acclaim for being a pioneer in MMA television and radio broadcasting. He is widely regarded as one of the best global on-air personalities when it comes to talking about his favourite sport. Canadians have even labeled him “the Don Cherry of the UFC.”

Ferraro firmly believes his Catholic education helped him achieve success and to this day follows the basic model of respect for his fellow men to treat others how you want to be treated.

“I can never forget my time at St. Thomas Aquinas, for it taught this city kid the importance of having small town values and the importance of faith in my life,” said Joe Ferraro. “Although it’s been over twenty years since I graduated, to this day, I still think of some of the teachers who guided me along my path to success. I cannot thank them enough.”
