Talented student and athlete Michaela Gosselin didn’t let a cancer diagnosis stand in her way of success. She just represented our country in four events at the Bejiing Olympics as a para-athlete skier.

Michaela Gosselin is not one to let a few bumps in the road get in her way. Not even a cancer diagnosis could stop her Olympic dreams.

During high school, Michaela excelled in academics and dominated on the ski hills and on the soccer pitch. Then in Grade 12, she was thrown a curveball. Michaela was diagnosed with cancer of the cartilage and underwent surgery to remove her shoulder blade.

That fall, Michaela got back on her skis - but this time, as a para-athlete. Within a year, she was named to the Ontario Para Team and eventually became a full-time athlete with the Canadian Para Team.

She has had many national and international successes. It isn’t surprising, she was asked to join her fellow teammates at the 2022 Para Olympics in Beijing. She competed in four events and placed 4th-7th - an incredible achievement!

Michaela thanks God for the amazing opportunities she has been given. We look forward to seeing her future achievements - on and off the ski hill.
