Matthew Rait is a talented jazz musician who uses his talent and knowledge not only to perform, but also to teach and research his craft. He feels honoured to have performed with some of the most notable jazz musicians.

Matthew has taken his love of music to impressive heights. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts, followed by a Masters of Arts and Ph.D in Music, he is in “tune” with both his academic and artistic sides.

Jazz is a focal point for Matthew. He uses his talent and knowledge as a performer, teacher and researcher.

Matthew has had many opportunities to perform and record with notable jazz and folk musicians. He shares his talent as a teacher of music at the university level, private music schools, and at elementary and secondary schools. And he continues to study his craft with ongoing practice and research.

Happy to share the love of music with others, Matthew regularly attends church parishes across the province to celebrate musical ministry.
