After travelling on one of his high school’s first mission trips to Kenya, Kyle Kirkwood was forever inspired to make an impact on our world. So much so, he is now working for one of the world’s largest social movement organizations - WE.
Kyle graduated from St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School in 2011 and soon after, attended the University of Guelph to study International Development. During his time there, he volunteered with WE Charity and Free the Children, participating in various fundraisers and awareness campaigns both on campus and in the community. He also volunteered annually at WE Day - WE Charity's youth and social empowerment event, which he first attended as a student at St. Dominic.
After graduating in 2015, Kyle’s extensive involvement with WE continued - he was the Resource and Logistics Coordinator on the WE Day volunteer team and is currently the Manager of WE Day Operations. In the past five years, he has worked on 67 WE Days and collaborated on several special projects including the opening of the WE College in Kenya with the First Lady of Kenya, Former Prime Minister of Canada, Kim Campbell, mother of the current Prime Minister of Canada, Margaret Trudeau, as well as many local dignitaries.
When time allows, Kyle has facilitated two ME to WE trips to Ecuador and India, and tries to squeeze in time for his favourite hobby of canoeing and camping. In the warmer months, you’re likely to find Kyle in the depths of Algonquin Park, camping and making use of his certification as a canoe instructor.
