Alexandra Dudarewicz
St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School
Graduated 2013
Followed her passion and attended the Fiorio Beauty Academy in Toronto and is currently the successful owner of a beauty salon in Barrie.
As a student at St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School, Alexandra Dudarewicz knew that she didn’t want to follow the typical path of post-secondary education. Although everyone thought she was university-bound, Alexandra was determined to pursue her passion of hairstyling and esthetics. A teacher at St. Joan of Arc notes, “We all expected Alexandra to go to university but she convinced us that, in the spirit of St. Joan of Arc, it was more courageous for her to excel in her passions rather than to do what was expected of her.”
After graduating in 2013, Alexandra moved to Toronto to study at the Fiorio Beauty Academy. She was trained in the art of hairstyling with an industry revolutionary, Maurice Fiorio. She gained valuable experience in the field, working on runways, photoshoots and attending industry tradeshows.
Alexandra graduated from the program in 2014 and shortly after partnered with another stylist to open A & A Hair Salon in the heart of Barrie. She continues to develop her talents by frequently attending hair shows and taking courses in makeup artistry and modern barbering. Alexandra is a successful business owner and is living proof that a career in the skilled trades industry is personally and financially rewarding.
Alexandra credits her time at St. Joan of Arc as pivotal in her career path and says, “My experience at St. Joan of Arc helped me pursue my passion and my teachers gave me the confidence that I needed not to follow the traditional path. My high school education gave me a foundation that can be applied to the ‘real world,’ leaving me with the ability to build on concepts that I’d already been introduced to. Thanks to St. Joan of Arc I quickly succeeded in my field.”
