Leanne Taylor

St. Noel Chabanel Catholic School

Our Lady of the Bay Catholic High School

Graduated 2010

After a life-altering cycling accident led to paralysis, Leanne worked hard to become a top para triathlete on the global stage. She also excels as a Compliance Officer in the pharmaceutical industry and has been recognized as one of the Top 25 Women in Biotechnology.

In 2018, at the age of 25, Leanne faced a life-altering cycling accident that resulted in paralysis from the waist down. Despite this, she set an ambitious goal to complete a triathlon using only her arms, just eight months post-accident. She achieved it!

Four years on, Leanne has risen to become a top para triathlete on the global stage, while also adapting to life in a wheelchair. Beyond her athletic endeavours, Leanne has excelled in her professional role as a Compliance Officer in the pharmaceutical industry. In 2022, she earned recognition as one of the Top 25 Women in Biotechnology.

She is fueled by the desire to demonstrate what is possible for people living with disabilities. She works to remove barriers for participation in parasport as a member of the Board of Directors for the Manitoba Wheelchair Sport Association.

Leanne attributes her success to the values instilled in her during her years at Our Lady of the Bay Catholic High School. “My Catholic education taught me the importance of community. It taught me to build others up, support, and rely on those around me. This is how I strive to approach every aspect of my life.”

Leanne is currently preparing for the 2024 Paralympics in Paris where she will compete for Team Canada. You can follow her journey to the Paralympics and beyond on leanne-taylor.com.
