Kelsey Araujo

St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School

Holy Trinity Catholic High School

Graduated 2016

Kelsey is a professional soccer player for Le Havre Division 1 Feminine in France and a call-up for Portugal's national women’s team. She attributes her success to her lifelong passion for the sport and her years as a Holy "Trinity Tiger."

Doing what she loves is a dream come true for our graduate from Holy Trinity Catholic High School. Born and raised in Bradford West Gwillimbury, Kelsey Araujo is proud of her Portuguese heritage and the love of soccer that goes hand in hand with it. She began playing the sport when she was just four years old. After graduation, she studied sports management at the University of Niagara, USA, and went on to get a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education.

Today, Kelsey is an award-winning soccer player. She plays professionally for Le Havre Division 1 Feminine in France. She has also earned the honour of being named a call-up for Portugal’s national women’s team. This is a major accolade for the 22-year-old athlete.

“Soccer keeps me active, and gives me a purpose. I want to put myself out there, on the world’s sporting stage, and give 100%,” said Kelsey. “My faith, my belief in God and how He is guiding me to exactly where I am supposed to be is what keeps me going. I think about the times when I wanted to move back home, and give up on my dreams. I think about the injuries I endured and the people who told me “no”, and I think of how my faith in God kept me going regardless. Without faith guiding me, I wouldn’t have been able to live out my dreams.”

The list of awards keeps stacking up for Kelsey, including being named the United Offence Woman of the Year for FC Buffalo.
