Ryder Pickles turned his commitment to service into a career in policing and has been hired by the Anishinabek Police Service, where he will begin active duty after completing his final stage training at the Ontario Police College.
Ryder Pickles chose a path of service early in life.
A 2022 graduate of St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School, Ryder set his sights on a career in policing. He enrolled in the Police Foundations program at Seneca College in King City and graduated in May 2025, ready to begin the work he had prepared for.
Soon after completing his studies, Ryder joined the Anishinabek Police Service and accepted an assignment with the Wasauksing First Nation detachment in Parry Sound. The role reflects both trust and responsibility. It also speaks to Ryder’s commitment to serve communities with fairness, respect, and care.
Ryder recently completed Basic Constable Training at the Ontario Police College in Aylmer and is currently completing the final stage of training at Ontario Provincial Police Headquarters, before beginning active duty. Ryder approaches this work with a desire to protect others and contribute to safe and healthy communities.
His journey reflects values rooted in Catholic education: service to others, respect for the dignity of every person, and the courage to stand for what is right. As he begins his policing career, Ryder carries those values forward in a profession dedicated to public service.
